CORE FITNESS LAUNCHES
12-WEEK FITNESS CHALLENGE TO MOTIVATE EAST GREENWICH RESIDENTS
As the colder weather begins to limit our abilities to take part in outdoor activities many local residents and businesses begin to gear up for the busy holiday / cocktail party circuit. According to the Public Health Institute, Americans will reduce their amount of physical activity by more than 35% over the fall. With the slowdown in physical activity and the increased time spent late at work or meeting with friends it is no wonder that the average weight gain during these months is typically between 5-7lbs on average. One well established local business is working diligently to combat the detrimental effects of this ³annual ritual.² The business is Core Fitness and October marks the launch of their annual 12-week fitness challenge.
³ Once the kids are back in school and the leaves begin to change many of us begin the typical physical slowdown and flip to less than optimum eating habits and decreased physical activity, states Jonathan Epstein, CMO of Core Fitness. ³Many of us get so busy during the months of September, October and November that we typically just wait until the New Year to make that same old resolution, ³This year I will go on a diet and join a health club.² ³Our 12 week fitness challenge gives local residents a fighting chance to survive the holidays without any weight gain. In fact, ALL of our participants last year lost weight and experienced the positive benefits that results from regular exercise.² Thatıs rightno more of the detrimental effects of yo-yo weight gain that typically happens to many of us during this time of year.² States head trainer Jay Villegas. ³We are actually turning that phenomena around and getting people life changing fitness results.²
The 12-week Fitness Challenge was designed specifically to motivate people who are looking to make a significant lifestyle change through customized fitness and nutrition programs. ³We know that the fall can be a very difficult time for many people and the 12 week fitness challenge takes into account the busy lifestyles and needs of local residents. ³From the onset we developed this program to meet the time-strapped bust residents of the area and we know that we have come up with a proven program that delivers real results for the program participants² echoıs Dawn Prenda, Core Fitness general manager.
³This is our second year running the fitness challenge,² states Prenda. We had 30 people sign up for the program last year and their results were absolutely incredible!² ³ By keeping the program size small we can ensure that we are able motivate and support each participant. This allows our trainers and nutrition consultants the opportunity to work very closely with each person enrolled in the program.²
³The number one benefit for the participants of the 12 week challenge is that we help people gain control of their health and fitness situation quickly. Once a person begins to see and feel better they tend to energize the entire group and then we really begin to see dramatic results which will last long after the holiday season ends² states head trainer Jay Villegas. ³Last year our 12 Week Fitness Challenge members included quite a diverse group of local residents. We had two sets of grand parents, brides and grooms looking to get in shape for upcoming weddings, absolute fitness beginners who had been told by their local physicians that they had to join a health club as well as avid fitness buffs who were just looking to push their fitness goals further than they could on their own.² ³Although everyone had different goals and motivation they all wanted to be part of a fitness program that incorporated individual personal training expertise, customized group exercise classes and nutritional programs designed to meet each of their own goals² states Prenda.
The Fitness Challenge was created to meet the specific needs of those individuals who want to get a jump start on a fitness program and wanted to make sure that they werenıt setting themselves up for failure by choosing a ³get fit quick² television offer or joining a local club for an entire year without the additional personal training knowledge of how to create a fitness program designed specifically to meet their needs. ³Many people come into our club and know that they should be exercising regularly, states Jay Villegas, Core Fitness Director of Person Training, but they donıt have the knowledge base to know what they should be doing to help them start to see changes in their bodies which will then keep them motivated.² ³During the 12 Week Fitness Challenge we offer the participants an array of services that are INCLUDED as part of the program. ³The allure of this program is in the combination of services that quickly help achieve visible results.² States Villegas. ³Our hope is that the positive impact of the program ensures people not only achieve their goals, but also that they will then embrace a lifetime relationship with physical fitness. All 30 in the 12-week fitness challenge receive the following:
And finally..
³October is when our business picks up dramatically and that is why we are going to roll out the program early in the month,² states Prenda. ³We will have an open house on October 17th to introduce the new participants to our personal trainers, equipment, group exercise instructors and our nutrition programs and then we get things rolling on October 23rd.² ³We actually had to turn several people away last year because the program fills up so quickly. Last years participants are already spreading the word within the community about the challenge, states Core Fitness CEO Brian Kablik.² ³Last year we filled up all 30 spots in less than 10 days and we are already receiving calls from husbands, wives and friends of last years participants to find out when we are beginning the enrollment process.² ³The demand for the program is unbelievable and we intend of making this a regular part of our fitness offering at all 5 Core Fitness clubs, states Kablik.² ³The program inspires people to work hard and their motivation goes through the roof once they begin to see and feel both the physical and mental transformations that regular exercise can deliver,² states Villegas.
Core management believes that programs like the 12-week fitness challenge help differentiate themselves from other local personal training salons, health clubs and group exercise studios. ³We can offer everything under one roof, at a cheaper price and we can save people time as they can get much more accomplished in 12 weeks than they could with regular exercise outside the program² adds Prenda. ³We actually have had members from other clubs sign up for the 12 week challenge and they decide to stay a member of Core.² ³I firmly believe that situations like this attest to the unique environment and opportunity created by the program.²
